Eddie Murphy is set to reprise his iconic role as the fast talking Detroit detective Axel Foley. The legendary action comedy franchise continues with Beverly Hills Cop 5 Sunset Takedown arriving in theaters in 2026. Following the highly successful fourth installment this new chapter brings Foley back to the sun drenched streets of California for an entirely new level of chaos and high stakes action.
A Massive Threat to the Elite
The narrative picks up right after the events of the previous film. This time a mysterious shadow syndicate emerges with a dangerous and highly sophisticated plot. They threaten to completely collapse the elite banking infrastructure of the West Coast. This massive financial threat forces Axel to leave Detroit and head straight into the heart of Beverly Hills once again.
To stop this powerful criminal organization Axel reunites with his most trusted veteran partners.
- Billy Rosewood played by Judge Reinhold returns to the action.
- John Taggart played by John Ashton is back for another explosive ride.
A Hilarious Generational Clash
The dynamic of the film shifts as Axel and his old school partners are forced to work with a younger generation of law enforcement. Foley is joined by his brilliant daughter Jane played by Taylour Paige and the very strict Detective Bobby Abbott portrayed by Joseph Gordon Levitt.
This team up creates a hilarious generational clash. The movie perfectly highlights the comedic differences between Axels classic break the rules detective work and the modern world of high tech cyber warfare.
Classic Action Meets Modern Chaos
Fans can expect the signature blend of razor sharp comedy and adrenaline pumping action that made the franchise famous. The film promises incredible action sequences including high speed shootouts straight down Rodeo Drive and outrageous undercover infiltrations at the most exclusive Hollywood galas.
Complete with the iconic synth soundtrack the movie proves that gadgets may change but a fast talking cop with a badge and a gun remains the ultimate weapon.
